I love a good scrap-busting project <3 Hexies and patchworks are my usual go-to with scraps, but these projects are giving me some really fun ideas to play around with.

I was thinking that you could make little reusable/washable tie on band aids, or maybe an infinity scarf from a ton of similar size scraps sewn together into a circle.

My sister is really into DIY projects and she’s always looking for something new to add to her collection. I love what you said about using extra fabric scaps from sewing to make something cute and creative. I’m sure my sister would love to make pillows and crafts out of fabric swatch cards.

One neat addition, that I have come up with… I sew all of my scrap fleece together, in any way it will go together… I make it sort of like 1/2 Yd piece, put in bed to keep toes warm! Washable Too! 😁

The bobby pins are sewn incorrectly: the bent part goes under the hair. The flat side is what shows. The bent part is designed to make it easy to slide onto the hair. This seems to be a very common mistake.

so crafty. I am sure the fabric has so many choices of fabric for this kind of project.

I, too, at 70 was in a 4-H club that taught sewing skills in addition to having home economics in school. Many of our projects were cotton wearable items: aprons, gathered skirts, and simple pull over tops. I also loved terms for woolen fabrics like: herring bone, hounds tooth, black watch plaid, stewart plaid, tweed, Donegal tweed, and many more that I have forgotten. I have returned to using my sewing machine and in fact I have a collection of machines just because I loved the look of the old time black machine with golden medalions. I know we do not have those sewing clubs like we used to but thankfully the youth can get started with online blogs such as this and the many online videos. Love to see the males that are involved in sewing crafts.

You can also make belts for kids. Really you just need a strip 3 inches wide and roughly 30 inches long (or more depending on your kids waist), heavy interfacing (1 inch wide), and 2 D-rings. The interfacing needs to be 3 inches shorter than your fabric strip. Position your interfacing so there is 1 inch of fabric on one side and 2 inches on the other side. Press everything and sew. Take the side that is 1 inch of fabric, fold over twice, press and sew. Slip the 2 D-rings on the other side, fold over twice again, and sew down.
You can make a strip with multiple fabrics if you don’t have one strip long enough. My daughter loves these belts and loves that she gets to pick out the fabrics I use for them. I love that they cost less than a belt from the store (because seriously they are ridiculous).

When I was 10 (I am 30 now), my neighbor was my 4-H leader. Her daughter was older, but in 4-H too. We had different sessions and days though. My leader and daughter made a vest that had fabric scraps, buttons, and other materials on the front. She sewed clear plastic over it. It was so awesome. I wish I had a picture!

Hi,
My mom was a seamstress and had a lot of fabric. She passed away and I am looking for a buyer. The fabric is all different types, lengths, colors, and prints. It is not on rolls.
Please advise if you are interested in buying it, or if you know of a company that does buy fabric.
Thank you.
