This might sound strange, but during our dark, winter months I like to give light bulbs. Gro bulbs are great for plants, and natural spectrum bulbs that mimic the sun’s rays are supposed to help fight fatigue and winter blues.

I’ve been collecting recipes for years and storing them on a flash key (with a back up). This allows me to search (by title or ingredient) for recipes in seconds without dragging out all those recipe boxes. Well, this year I made a copy of all my recipes recipes (including recipes handed down from family members no longer living), and sent them to other relatives. Now we can all enjoy them. A flash key is under $10. It’s also a great way to share photos.

My mother is crazy about animals, especially birds and squirrels. Whenever we are out somewhere and she sees animals looking to be fed, she is always scrounging to try and give them something to eat (toast from our breakfast, rolls from our dinner, fries at lunch etc.). So this year for Christmas, I am making a Travelling Birdy & Squirrel Box/Feeder. Inside the container there are ziplock bags of birdseed, corn, crackers, cereal, etc., that can ride around in the back of her vehicle and be at the ready for our bushy-tailed or feathered friends. The additional weight will come in handy during the snow season, and the baggies can be re-filled time and again.

do you know if paint pens would work on the wooden spoons? might have to sand the gloss down first.

You don’t have to use a wood burning tool to achieve the same effect. For instance you can use a paint pen. You can find these in most craft stores (and easily at wal-mart) for $2 or less. Either way I tjought this was a great post. It deff gave me some ideas for this Christmas seasons gift giving.

You asked about it being hard to buy gifts. I think giving a gift card is the best idea, and then doing a few little gifts, is how I handle it. Some times it is to like Walmart, and she buys groceries and things she wants. One time it was at her favorite store, Herberger’s. Try to do different places with gift cards. One year we just gave her an AMEX she could use any where. My MIL has about everything and we give her a gift card. This year I have some little things, like I did a block with her initials (glass on a stand) and led lights. Then I always get her items as she loves soaking in the tub. Then giving a necklace as she likes jewelry (not an expensive one). Then just little things I pick up I think she would like.

Not so true. The washers required a stamping kit that is not cheap, also you need to get the gem that goes with them and I found that really difficult to do but finally did find some at Walmart, but not recently in the Winter months last year. Glued mirrors require a hot glue gun (I do know of some people that do not have one, in fact I can name at least 4/5 ladies in my family). Some are mislead, but if you have the supplies then yes.

    Thanks for sharing.

Sure, but the supplies for these cost under $10 assuming you have basic supplies. You can get those gems for necklaces for less than a dollar at any craft store.

Dollar tree has glue guns as well as the gun for a dollar! It’s pretty sad when someone goes out of their way to post something like this to help people out with inexpensive ideas and all some people can do is complain!
