Pop-Themed Baby Shower

What’s the Project? This pop-themed baby shower is so cute! (And easy to pull together.) We’ve got all the ideas you need, including food, printables, invitations, and a game. You’ll love throwing this cute baby shower.

I grew up with only brothers (and I have only sons), so imagine my excitement when sisters-in-law started joining my family! I’ve got 4 great sisters-in-law now and I love it.

My sister-in-law Jaelyn is a very special friend (who incidentally is YEARS younger than me but old in her soul so we get along great). She’s having a baby soon (maybe this month!) and if there’s anyone who deserves a big baby shower, it’s her. She’s been through some rough years and kept smiling and loving others through it all, and I was determined to throw her a fun shower.

But then there was Coronavirus.

That’s complicated things a bit. But I found a way to make this shower work and keep everyone safe.

This pop-themed baby shower gave people a chance to “pop by” and celebrate Jaelyn’s new baby boy. And we had a blast doing it!

Pop-Themed Baby Shower

A pop theme baby shower is really easy to roll with because there are so many pop related ideas. But here’s some help to get you started.

Pop Theme Baby Shower Invitations:

These invitations make it easy to have a come and go shower, those most of our guests stuck around. I just texted the invitations to people but you could also email or print and deliver.

To do this, save the invitation to your computer and then open it in a program like PicMonkey and edit to work for your shower. If you need help with how to do this, we’ve got a tutorial here.

Pop Theme Food Ideas:

After your invitations are sent, it’s time to plan the party. I’m starting with food because that was the fun part of the party!

One of the main reasons I wanted to do a pop-themed baby shower is because Jaelyn LOVES popcorn and I thought it would be fun to do a popcorn bar. Because I wanted to be careful of germs, we just bagged up popcorn instead so that people could just grab one. It was so cute! (We added a little bit of colored white chocolate to the popcorn to make it match the shower:

We also HAD to have cake pops! Need a great cake pops recipe? Grab it here.

And pop was a must:

And popsicles!

Popsicles for Baby Shower

OK, you get the idea! Lots of pop-themed items. Here are fun some ideas:

  • Pop
  • Popsicles
  • Cake Pops
  • Pop Rocks
  • Pop Tarts
  • Pop Corn
  • Pop-sta Salad (pasta salad)
  • Pizza Poppers

What other ideas would you use?

Pop-Themed Baby Shower Printables:

Here is a tag you can use to make food labels if you’d like (you can edit them the same way as the invitations mentioned above).

Pop-Themed Baby Shower Decor:

I kept the decor fairly simple because it was outside. Balloons were a must because they pop. I used the turquoise and darker blue in invitations and added in a lime green and it looked amazing!

I also made a cute diaper cake for a centerpiece and added the lime green and turquoise colors to it too! I love how it turned out. If you want to make one, we’ve got a diaper cake tutorial here.

Pop-Themed Baby Shower Game:

We needed a simple baby shower game and I wanted it to have a pop theme.

Pop the Question Baby Shower Game:

I called this game pop the question. I filled up a bunch of balloons with strips of paper inside. Jaelyn had to pop a balloon and read the question (see sample questions below). Guests would write down what they thought might be the answer and then Jaelyn would answer and whoever got the answer (or was the closest if it was something like weight) got a point. The person with the most points at the end won!

Here are some possible questions you could use:

  • How big were you when you were born?
  • What time were you born?
  • What did your mom crave when she was pregnant with you?
  • How did you tell your husband you were pregnant?
  • What did you crave during this pregnancy?
  • What was your first word as a baby?
  • How long was your mom in labor with you?
  • Where were you born?
  • How old were you when you started to walk?
  • Were you a thumb sucker, a binky baby, or neither?
  • What is your middle name?
  • How did you get your name?
  • How did the baby you are pregnant with get his/her name?
  • What is your favorite part of being pregnant?
  • What is your least favorite part of being pregnant?

Add any other questions that you’d like!

Pop Themed Baby Shower Favors:

Finally, I made some cute baby shower favors! I filled a cellophane bag with popcorn and a Tootsie Pop and added a tag that said “Thanks for popping by!” You could also add Pop Rocks or something else.

Here’s the tag that you can use to make those yourself:

Phew! That’s a lot but it turned out great and we hope yours will too!

I hope you love throwing a pop-themed baby shower!
