What’s the Project? Looking to throw a fun circus party? These circus party ideas include fun decorations and food to serve, ideas of what to do at your party, and free printables to make your circus theme party really pop!
Step right up, step right up! This is the greatest show!
OK, cheesy circus lines aside, this is a party you’re going to want to throw. This circus party would make a great birthday party for kids, but I’ll let you in on a little secret. The party you are seeing here I actually threw…and it was for adults! So this fun circus theme party could be great for anyone!
This is such a fun and festive party, everyone will love it!
I’m going to break it down for you with circus theme party invitations, decorations, food, and activities. Then you’ll be all set to throw a circus party of your own-whether it’s for kids or families or even adults!
Circus theme Party Invitations:
The invitations for this circus theme party might be my very favorite part. The obvious choice was to make them look like cute circus tickets-so I did and I love how they turned out!
I want you to be able to use these cute circus party invitations for your own party. To do this you will need to save this image to your computer and then customize it in a photo editing program. (If you need help with his, here’s a tutorial on how to customize invitations.)
And don’t worry! It’s not too hard.
Fun Party Decorations:
Once you’ve got all your guests invited to your party, it’s time to think about decorations.
Here’s a peek at how I pulled this party together.
Obviously, we incorporated a lot of food into our party spread, so we had the sign over our party table say Concessions.
We’ve got a printable concession sign for you to use for your party too.

(You’ll need to print both pages, then overlap them and tape them together to make this work.)
A few other fun circus party decorations we used include:
- Light Box with the words Step Right Up
- Showtime Sign
- Red, yellow and blue balloons
- Printable Circus Tags (grab below)
I’ve got a bunch of free printable tags that you can use for your party. I used them in clown noses to make table signs:
And put them on jars of candy:
I’ve got all of these tags ready for you to use at your circus party. You can also customize them for your own party using this tutorial.

Here’s a peek at what you’ll get:
There are a bunch of tags in those downloads-you can open them in a program like Word or Pages and size them how you want and print. They can be used as signs, cupcake toppers, for favors, or anything you want.
Speaking of favors….
Circus Party Favors:
It seemed like a given that I had to have Barnum’s Animal Crackers for party favors and all we did was add a cute tag! So easy and so cute!
If you want to use that tag, it’s in the folder to download above, or here it is for you to save. You can also print this PDF that has a bunch of them on it.

Circus Party Food:
You know the main attraction at this party has got to be the food. We planned this circus theme party with all kinds of carnival type food. Here’s a list of some of the things we served:
- Cotton Candy
- Rock Candy
- Circus Peanuts
- Popcorn
- Nachos
- Licorice
- Candy
- Circus Animal Cookies
But our favorite food we served were these cute clown cupcakes.
Aren’t they adorable?!
Here’s how to make them.
Supplies Needed:
- Cupcakes
- Frosting
- Sugar Cones
- Red Gumballs
- Edible Eyes
- Food Coloring
- Decorating tips
Frost your cupcakes using a bag of frosting and swirling it upwards. Then place a sugar cone on top towards the back.
Add eyes and nose while the frosting is still wet.
Color some of your frosting. You will want orange for the hair, red for the mouth and the color of your choice for accents.
Add it to a bag with a star-shaped decorating tip. Add some frosting to the clown hat as accents.
Then add the hair. For the smile, you can use a simple decorating tip with just a small circular opening or use baggie and just snip off one corner.
Hopefully, all of these ideas have helped you pull together a super cute circus-themed party that your guests will love!
Have so much fun throwing your circus theme party!
