What’s the Project? These homemade Mother’s Day gifts will make a perfect gift to tell mom just how special she is this year. Great ideas for everyone to put together, these Mother’s Day crafts and gifts are wonderful for any mom!
Do you have a hard time coming up with great gifts for mom on Mother’s Day? I do!
Moms are hard. You want her to feel special, tell her how much you love her, but what can you buy that says that? Probably nothing, but you’ve got to do something.
How about putting together or making a gift that is special just for her? Something personal that she will love and will be more meaningful than something you’ve just grabbed at the store?
I’ve rounded up some homemade Mother’s Day gift ideas that you can make for mom this year and she’ll love them. Pick what works for your mama and make it perfect for her! And get started early if you can so that you have time to make what you want to and not be stressed out!
Some of these ideas are things that you will sew, craft, or create yourself. Others are things like gift baskets that you will pull together yourself and make special and personalized for your mom—so not exactly homemade but still with a homemade touch.
You can make this perfect for mom in whatever way works best for your mom! These are also great homemade gifts for grandma!
As you think about what to do for mom, try to really think about what would make her feel special. Don’t just get a gift for the sake of getting a gift. See if you can pinpoint something that she would truly love. For some moms, this isn’t something material, for some it is. For some moms they want to be spoiled, others want to have a day to themselves to relax. Try to keep your mom’s needs in mind as you figure out what to do for mom this Mother’s Day.
But here are some special DIY gifts that I think might work out great for you.
DIY Mother’s Day Gifts:
If your mom loves baths or spa-type products, a homemade sugar scrub in a mason jar will be nice because you can choose a favorite scent that she will love. This one looks like it would smell amazing!
I love picking a color or a theme and planning a gift around that because it helps my brain get rolling and I’m able to put something fun together. I love this tickled pink idea. You could fill it with anything pink—bath bombs, notebooks, candy, jewelry, socks, whatever you think she would like. You can also do it in mom’s favorite color. Here are some other fun color ideas.
Tickled Pink That You’re My Mom:
To really pamper her, you can fill up a cute little makeup bag with fun items like makeup, bath salts, face masks, nail polish, or whatever accessories you think she would love. I’ve also got a tutorial to make the bag yourself if you want, or grab one from the store.
Here’s what mom really wants—chocolate and treats. You could load this one full of all her favorites and she will be one happy camper!
Have you ever tried hand-stamping jewelry? It’s a lot of fun and can be really personalized. This would be a great project for a youth group to do or something like that.
Here’s another great one if your mom is a chocolate lover! Put together a chocolate-themed gift basket and add a free printable tag.
If you can sew, make her this easy DIY bag (there’s a tutorial at this link) and then fill it with fun things for summer—towels, flip flops, a book, sunscreen, sunglasses, whatever you think she would love!
Summer Fun Bag (Fill it with Fun Summer Items!):
Have you ever tried making a bracelet like this on your own? They are very easy to make and you can personalize it just for her. She will love it.
Another great one if you can sew. Who doesn’t love a great apron for the kitchen? This pink and white polka dot is my favorite, but you can make this in any fabric that you think she will love. The little ruffle at the bottom is a fun addition. You can also pair this with some kitchen gadets like new wooden spoons, a whisk, or cute new bowls.
If you’re looking for a Mother’s Day gift idea for a whole group of ladies, you could do something like this and add a cute wrapper to a candy bar for her. An easy and inexpensive gift idea that can be made for many moms (or just yours if you want).
This is a major favorite of mine, maybe because I totally love slippers and I love themed gift baskets and this kind of combines the two. Grab a cute pair of slippers for her and fill it up with things she will love like gift cards to her favorite restaurant, nail polish, chocolate, a face mask, lip balm, or anything else!
If sentimental is what you’re looking for, have the kids or grandkids fill out these cute pages about mom and compile them for her. They are sure to make her smile.
How sweet is this idea? If you’ve got a whole generation of women, take a picture of each generation, holding the same frame and then give her a framed version of it! She’s got to love that.
Can you believe this is made of paper?! It looks incredible and you only need scissors, paper, and a handful of other things to make this amazing necklace that she will love.
Skip the flowers and make a chocolate bouquet instead! You could add some sweet notes to the bouquet as well.
Mother’s Day Chocolate Bouquet:
What about some personalized magnets with pictures of people she loves or things that are meaningful to her? This is a creative idea that she probably isn’t expecting!
A teeny tiny jewelry box for all of her greatest treasures! It looks so professional and perfect, is lined with pictures to make it extra special, and is easy and inexpensive to make.
Or make her a little necklace with pictures of the people she loves the very most!
Got a fruit lover? Here’s a DIY tutorial on how to make a strawberry rose bouquet for her. This could be a great brunch idea as well.
You’ve probably seen diaper cakes, but how about a dish towel cake with a tea towel or dish towel set and fun new kitchen gadgets for her? How cute and creative is this?
How pretty and also yummy is this planter filled with candy? Another super creative idea for her!
One more fun kitchen-themed idea, grab (or make) an apron for her, pair it with some new kitchen gadgets, and add this cute gift tag.
Remember the makeup bag gift idea from up above? Here’s a cute pattern to make a makeup bag for her. It’s a simple pattern and she will get all kinds of use out of this.
This tote bag is a pattern from my site that everyone LOVES! It’s an easy bag to sew and it’s something she will carry all the time. She can take it anywhere—work, the library, church, on trips, or wherever she is going.
Your kids will love making these cards with a really easy technique! Then they can write a personal note, fill it with a gift card if you want, and you’ve got a great gift for mom.
Faux Water Color Mother’s Day Card (with Gift Card):
How fun are all of these gifts for mom? So many ideas and a lot of creative fun for her. I hope something in this is the perfect idea for you to give or make for your mom this year! And don’t forget about grandma. Spoil her too. Homemade Mother’s Day gifts are the best!
