Welcome October!! It’s my favorite month of the year and I bet I am not alone in that? I’ve been a Halloween crafting maniac already this year and my theme for October is going to be quick, easy and fun Halloween crafts. Are you ready for that? I’ve got a lot of them planned and hopefully can find time to do more during this month.
Today’s craft is pretty easy and sort of quick, but a little more involved. I totally love the results though. Halloween Candy Jars etched with black spider webs:
I love how it turned out and I think it’s perfect for filling with all that Trick or Treat candy you’re going to hand out. Or use it as a fun Halloween decoration. Or, fill it with candy and THEN use it for a decoration and see if you can keep yourself from eating all the candy! Ha ha! I sure couldn’t.
Halloween Candy Jars Tutorial:
- Jar (I got mine at the craft store)
- Silhouette Glass Etching Starter Kit (See deals on this below)
- Black paint (I used the Americana Multi Surface in black)
- Silhouette or other cutting machine or pre-cut spider web stencils
To start off, I prepared my spider web images in my Silhouette software and cut them out:
I used the Hook in the glass etching starter kit to peel out the pieces of the spider web that I didn’t need: (that things seriously handy!)
Let the etching cream soak in for about 60 second. Then it rinses off easily in water.
Now, originally I had planned to just etch the jar like that. But then I saw this tutorial for a similar idea on Just Between Friends and LOVED the black background and decided to do it myself. So, if you want the black inside, go here for her tutorial on how to do that.
And I ended up with this! Fun fun fun! You could also make it orange or silver or purple inside!
**One major thing to note-with the paint inside this is no longer considered food safe. I would have used it as a cookie jar but the cookies shouldn’t touch the paint. I figured wrapped candy could go in here though and look great!
I LOVED this Glass Etching Kit from Silhouette! It was perfect for a Halloween Project and I think it would be awesome for the holidays coming up as well!
