I love a simple and cute project for the holidays-something that brings a smile to faces and is easy to do. Especially if it’s something fun to do with the kids in the kitchen with Christmas music playing and a candle burning.
This project could be a perfect party idea or just something fun to do with the kids. They are super simple! Or you could make them and take them to a friend. They taste great AND they’re super cute! Win-win! Love these cute snowman and reindeer cookies!
Seriously-how easy and cute are those? Definitely something that little hands can take part in too if you want! These are sandwich cookies with frosting in the middle and they are made from a cake mix, meaning you don’t even need very many ingredients!
Reindeer Cookies:
Let’s start with the cute reindeer cookies. Here’s how to make them:
Ingredients Needed:
- Chocolate cake mix
- 1 stick of butter (1/2 C), softened
- 1 egg
- Frosting
- Small pretzels
- Edible Eyes
- Red Candy (nose)
Instructions:
Bake the cookies as follows:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine cake mix, butter, and egg and mix until dough forms. Roll into small, 1 inch balls. Bake for 8-10 minutes.
After the cookies cool, grab your frosting and frost one cookie. (We like to use a Ziploc and squirt some on a cookie out of one corner of the bag that is snipped off.) Then sandwich the second cookie on top.
Gently stick your pretzels in between the two cookies, far enough that they are in the frosting.
Using a tiny bit of frosting, add your eyes and nose.
And he’s done!

Snowman Cookies:
Ok, now let’s make the cute little snowman cookies!
Ingredients:
- 1 white cake mix
- 1 stick of butter (1/2 C)
- 1 egg
- Frosting
- Edible eyes
- Mini Chocolate chips
- Candy corn
Instructions:
Bake the cookies as follows:
(This is the same as the reindeer cookies, just a different flavor.)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine cake mix, butter and egg and mix till dough forms. Roll into small, 1 inch balls. Bake for 8-10 minutes.
After the cookies cool, grab your frosting and frost one cookie. (We like to use a Ziploc and squirt some on a cookie.) Then sandwich the second cookie on top.
Use a small amount of frosting to add the eyes and mouth. For the nose, find a candy corn with orange on the tip and cut off just that part. (Or just cut the white off a tip if needed.) Use that for your nose.
