What’s the Project? This cute Halloween cookie jar is easy to make and so much fun to use. Make a cute Halloween decor idea plus a great way to keep Halloween cookies fresh all season long!

You know I have been baking like crazy lately because I keep putting up new baking posts, but today I have a fun way to store all that baking!

I made a cute spider web Halloween Cookie Jar. This way you can bake like crazy AND have somewhere cute and festive to keep it all! And it’s really easy to make! And it looks so cute sitting on the counter.

DIY Halloween Cookie Jar-This cute cookie jar is a fun Halloween craft plus a great way to store all of your Halloween treats! #Halloween #Halloweencrafts #crafts

It’s as simple as getting a jar from a craft store or somewhere like Target, then making the glass frosty and adding a vinyl spiderweb.

And then you better bake up some yummy cookies to go inside!

Spiderweb Halloween Cookie Jar:

Supplies Needed:

  • Glass cookie jar (mine came from Hobby Lobby)
  • Etching cream
  • Black vinyl
  • Silhouette or Cricut cutting machine or exacto knife or scissors.
  • Latex gloves (optional)

How to Make a Halloween Cookie Jar:

Clean your jar and dry it thoroughly.

Give the jar a heavy coat of the etching cream. (This is where you might want the gloves-to prevent skin burns.) All over the jar, nice and thick and let it sit for at least 15 minutes.

Etching

Rinse the jar thoroughly in water. If you have spaces that didn’t etch well, do it all again. I had to do it twice for mine.

Let the cookie jar dry completely again.

Cut a spider web (I just ran a google image search for a spider web and found one I liked) from your black vinyl. I used my cutting machine but you can also use scissors or an exacto knife. If you are using scissors or exacto you will need to print the web and then use that as a template to do your cutting.

Apply vinyl to the cookie jar and then…bake some cookies!

Just a thought… instead of using the etching cream (I love that stuff but it is pretty expensive for the really good kind) I think the spray glass frosting stuff would work just as well. I bought a can on Amazon for like 5 bucks. And you probably wouldn’t use the whole thing on one jar 🙂 such a cute idea though! I really need one of those cutting machines!! 😉

Yep-I thought of that option too and I think it would work great. I just had etching cream on hand.
