I love doing fun, simple nice things for people. It makes them happy, it makes me happy, it’s just a great thing all around. And with today being Do Something Thursday (make sure you do something nice for someone today above and beyond what you would normally do), I thought I would share a simple idea for you that you can do for a friend to brighten their day.

Gift Idea for Friends-A Little Something to Brighten Your Day!

This is so simple and can be customized to any friend!

Just grab a jar-a plain jar, a fun drink jar like this one or really even a gift bag or box or anything you want. Fill it with fun, colorful items that your friend will love and put a cute tag on it. Guaranteed to lift someone’s spirits!

Fill a jar fill of fun, bright stuff and give it to a friend

Brighten Your Day Gift for Friends:

All you need is a bunch of bright, colorful items to make this gift just right.

There are so many options of what you could put in this jar. Just think about what your friend might like. Here are some suggestions:

  • Chapstick
  • Pens
  • Notebook
  • Candy
  • Nail Polish
  • Cute Socks
  • Nail File or Mini Nail Kit
  • Tic Tacs/Mints
  • Earrings

What else would you put in it? Tell me your ideas!

Just stuff them all down into the jar (of bag or whatever you are using):

And then add this cute tag: (right click to save and then print from your computer)

And take it to a friend! Bet she will love it!

Dear Amber, hi! I’ve just found your blog and I can’t get enough of it! You have really great posts here and I LOVED this one! It is a wonderful idea for friends! I’m already thinking about making one gift jar for a friend of mine to keep it at her office. Some days of the week she stays long hours at her office, sometimes without any food (!), and it would be great to fill her jar with small snacks like cereal bars, dark chocolate bars, breadsticks, nuts etc to help her cope with these exhausting days!

I love this idea!! I have a co-worker that is headed out of town for a few days for her step-dads funeral and I was trying to think of something that would lift her spirits when she got back to work. I think this would be the perfect thing. something simple but thoughtful. Thanks for the great suggestion on things to put inside.

Funny I have been working on a very similar gift for my Grand children. They are all teenagers now
and there are 12 of them so not easy to come up with a an affordable fun gift. My husband and I are making the jar lids and I got the straws and now just deciding what else to put in them and her you are
with some great ideas. LOL Thanks I enjoy your emails.

Fantastic idea!! We did something very similar for my cousin and her daughters when they all were going through a very stressful time in their lives. Got a gift card and coffee mug from Kwik Trip as my cousin loves going there every morning for coffee, nail polishes, hand lotions, gum, and tried to get treats that were “ok” for a diabetic child to have….the youngest, then 8, just diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, the oldest was passing a kidney stone soon after, and the Mom, my 1st cousin, broke out in a severe rash due to the stress……low carb cookbooks to help for diabetic eating. They LOVED everything, found out they have mini spa days every Sunday 🙂

It’s amazing how something so easy to do can brighten someone’s day <3
