These easy French beignets taste amazing and are super simple to make, but the best part is that they are filled with Nutella for a sweet surprise!
Take your Rhodes Bake N Serv Frozen Dinner Rolls out of the freezer and allow them to thaw in a covered bowl for 3-4 hours.
On the stove, heat up a small pan with about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium heat for about 15 minutes. You want it hot but not burning. If it starts to smell like fish (eww!) it’s too hot and you need to remove it and allow it to cool for a minute.
Once your oil is ready, break each roll in half and roll it into a smaller ball.
Drop a ball in your oil to test the temperature. It should start to cooking and bubble gently. Ideally, each beignet should take 4-5 minutes in the oil to cook through. Allow yours to cook. It should cook until it is golden brown. Pull it out and when it is cool enough, break it open and make sure the inside is cooked through. If not, you it needs to cook longer. This might mean your temperate is too high on your oil and it’s cooking too fast so you might need to turn it down a little bit.
Once you are sure that your oil is the right temperature, begin cooking the little dough balls. Again, they should cook 4-5 minutes. Likely, they will rotate themselves as they cook, but if they don’t, use tongs to give them a little nudge so that all sides cook evenly.
When they are golden brown, remove them from the oil and place them on a plate covered in paper towels to drain them and allow them to cool.
Cool almost completely.
As they cool, fill your pastry bag or a Ziploc (with a tiny bit of a corner snipped off) with a pastry tip (it really doesn’t matter what size or shape) and Nutella.
Now it’s time to fill your beignets. I found that it worked best to create a small hole in the beignet first, then insert the pastry bag. Then simply squeeze for a second or two to add the Nutella.
Repeat with all of the beignets.
Top with sprinkled powdered sugar.
Can be served immediately or set aside for a few hours.
