I’ve been sitting here working on this post and I will tell you, it’s making me HUNGRY! I’ve got such a weakness for the chocolate and peanut butter combination. The day I made this chocolate peanut butter popcorn? Forget about it. I ate like half the bowl. It’s amazing!
I couldn’t stop eating it, so you know what I did? I took it to a church youth group activity and let the teenagers devour it. Of course I ate my fair share there too.
It’s pretty nice and easy to make and it makes a ton, so it’s good for parties or for taking to big gatherings.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Popcorn Recipe:
To make this we are going to start out by doing two separate batches of popcorn and the mixing the two together. Let’s start with the chocolate:
Chocolate Popcorn:
Ingredients:
- 1 and 1/3 C sugar
- 2 sticks of butter (that’s 1 C)
- 1/2 C light corn syrup
- 1/3 C of cocoa
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 bags of popped microwave popcorn (or if you are using a popper-2/3 C uncooked, then pop it)
Instructions:
Pop your popcorn and pour it into a large bow. Try to remove any unpopped kernels if possible.
In a pan the stove, combine the sugar, corn syrup, butter, and cocoa. Heat on medium high heat, stirring frequently until it starts to boil. Allow it to boil for a minute and a half. During this time add your vanilla.
Remove it from the heat and pour it over the popcorn. Begin stirring it around quickly until it coats all of the popcorn.
Set it aside to cool.
Peanut Butter Popcorn:
Ingredients:
- 1 and 1/3 C sugar
- 1 and 1/3 C corn syrup
- 1 and 1/3 C creamy peanut butter
- 2 bags of microwave popcorn (or 2/3 uncooked popcorn, then pop it)
Instructions:
Pop your popcorn and pour it into a large bowl.
Combine the sugar and corn syrup in a pan and cook over medium high heat until it just barely begins to boil. Remove the pan from the heat. Stir in the peanut butter until it is melted.
Pour over the popcorn and stir quickly until it is all coated.
Put it together:
Now, with your two popcorns done, pour them out of their bowls, onto a counter and mix them up so that the chocolate and peanut butter flavors are mixed together.
Store in an airtight container.
