As I have worked on these projects I have had a song running through my head…”Silver and Gold, Silver and Gold…” I don’t know the rest of the words unfortunately so only those ones have been in my mind. It’s from that really old kids movie Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. Does anyone know what I am talking about?! Anyway, I’ve put together some fun silver and gold gift packaging for your to use this holiday season. I’ve got Gift Card Holders, Gift Boxes, Gift Tags and Greeting Cards!
Kind of pretty right?! Let me show you what’s involved!
(And by the way, this is part of the Cricut Design Space Challenge:
I love my Cricut so much! I have had it for a couple of months now but this is the first time that I feel like I really got to sit down and get to know it well. I made the fun holiday pillows, I helped my son decorate his little stuffed animal’s house for Halloween this week and I made all of these fun holiday gift ideas with my Cricut.
What I am telling you is that YOU NEED A CRICUT! Too much fun!
Cricut has a couple of new features this month! The first is Print Then Cut-where you can…wait for it…Print then cut! You can print an image and then the Cricut is smart enough to actually cut right around that image! Pretty Amazing!
They also have a new feature-Slice-where you can place an image in the center of another and slice that center image right out. This is what I really played around with this month-check it out below!
For now though, let me break down these projects!
Gift Card Holders:
This is my favorite project from the group. I love how these turned out! They are even prettier in real life. They are made with gold glittery card stock so they really sparkle and are fun!
- Gold Glitter Card Stock (Mine is sort of a fiber paper and is medium weight-not too thick. I got it at the craft store.)
- Silver Paper (I used silver foil paper but use whatever you prefer)
- Craft Glue
- White Card Stock
Here is a template for the gift card. Right click to save this to your computer and then you can load it into Cricut Design Space. (If you don’t have a Cricut, you can print it and use it as a template to cut it yourself.) When you size it, from the top of the holder to the bottom line (not counting the tab at the bottom-so the measurement from top to bottom of the rectangle on the right) should be 3 and 7/8 inches. You’ll need to adjust this because it won’t automatically be this size.
Once you have it loaded into design space, cut it out on the glitter card stock.
I had some fun with one of Cricut’s newest features, Slice (it cuts out the image that you place in the center of a shape like the tree and snowflake below), to make these cute tags to go on these.
If you would like to use the cute tags that I used, here is the file for that in Cricut Design Space:
Cut the gray circles on your silver paper and the other in white.
Use your craft glue to assemble the gift card template and to add the tags.
Gold Gift Box:
Love this one too! It’s perfect for filling with candy or other small treats or presents!
- Gold Card Stock (You can see that mine is dimpled. I love this! Got it at Michael’s craft store but hopefully you can find it anywhere. Or any fun Gold card stock should work.
- Cellophane (I just cut a piece of a cellophane bag)
- Silver and White Card Stock for the tag
- Craft Glue
- Cricut Scoring Tool
- Scotch Tape
This one can be made all in Cricut Desgin Space and I have it all set up for you. Get it here. If you are not using a Cricut but want to make this you will need to search for gift box templates on the internet and then use those to cut.
Cut the box from your gold card stock and then assemble using craft glue.
I just taped the cellophane in place on the underside of the lid.
Tie some ribbon and add your tag and you are set!
Holiday Gift Tags:
This one is just simple. I just made a few gift tags that you can easily cut from your Cricut and use on gifts:
- Gold, Silver and White Card Stock
- Cricut Pens
- Craft Glue
Just cut them out, layer them and use!
Last, just some simple greeting cards:
- White, Gold and Silver Card Stock
- Gold Glitter
- Glue Dots
- Ribbon or Twine
I’ve got a template for the tags part of this! (Man I’ve really got your back today don’t I?!) Here you go:
Cut your tags with your Cricut.
Cut your white card stock 5 1/4 inches by 8 1/4 inches. Cut your gold 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 and mount the white and fold it in half.
Use your glue dots to make polkadots. Place glue dots sporadically across your card, then sprinkle gold glitter on them. Shake off excess glitter.
Adhere your tags to the front of the card.
Add twine of ribbon for embellishment.
