This is it! It’s the last day of the first month of our Sew Crazy Monthly Challenge series and it’s been amazing! I hadn’t anticipated the amazing response this series has gotten and it’s been a ton of fun for me to see the things that readers have sewn and to see the excitement over learning new skills. So…I thought it would be fun to do a recap, so that all of you get a chance to see some fun things too! I think I will do this monthly so you know that you just might get featured here each month. Keep it exciting you know?
Sew Crazy Monthly Challenge-January Recap:
As you probably know, the theme for January was New Year, New Skills and I think some serious new skill learning has gone on. Am I right?
I think this theme left a lot of options open for readers to choose from as far as projects go. And from what I could tell you liked that, so I will try my best to do that each month.
Now, first of all…TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO ENTER THE GIVEAWAY, so if you haven’t completed all of your entries, I suggest doing it now! (Enter here) It’s a sewing machine or serger, $100 to The Ribbon Retreat, and a free copy of my Learn to Sew ebook to the winner.
February’s new theme and projects will be announced Monday (and I am nervous-hoping you will all like the options, so be kind).
Now, let’s seem a few fun projects from this month! (Hope these ladies are ok with me sharing their pics!)
Brook Cole created this Messenger Bag with applique and top stitching as her project for the month and it frankly blew me away with the creativity! If my boys see this they will think they need one!
Here’s another take on the messenger bag. This one just looks so professional. It’s from Saskia Groenewegen:
And here’s a really nicely appliqued bag from Robbin Reber:
Here’s a tiny version of the maxi. (Can we call that a mini maxi?) From Hilary Johnson:
Here is Lacy Bowen’s Maxi Skirt. I think the stripes are so cute and she used a contrasting fabric for the belt part at the top:
I love the embellishments that Nandini Karmarkar added to this pin tuck pouch. Aren’t they cute!?
This is probably my favorite thing I’ve seen all month because I tell you what-she is clever. There’s a poem to go with it: The sun did not shine. It was too wet to play. I followed directions but failed anyway. I will use my seam ripper and rip rip rip rip. I do not like this bag. Not one little bit.
I love that Angie McCombs made her pouch a boy version:
This one is soooooo pretty! From Janell Joseph:
I don’t know how many pouches Jenn Moore ended up making because I saw a BUNCH and they were all gorgeous. This is my favorite:
Diane appliqued these cute capes for her grandkids:
OK, you can see-lots of fun things. I could keep going, but nap time is almost up and I have been looking at your projects the WHOLE time.
So, with that let me say THANK YOU for making this first month a success, check back Monday for the next theme and projects and tell your friends to join you!
