There’s something about the beginning of the year that gets me so excited for planning and writing and organizing and all that fun stuff. Well, in truth I am always excited by those things, but this time of year especially. I had fun this year making a new journal-one with gold polka dots!
It’s a pretty easy and inexpensive project.
DIY Gold Polka Dot Journal:
- Journal or Sketchbook
- Plain colored fabric
- Craft Glue/Decopauge
- Gold Metallic Paint
Grab your journal or sketchbook (I got this one at the craft store for around $6.)
And cover it in fabric using this tutorial.
Once you have it covered in your fabric:
Get your gold paint ready. (Love this stuff!!)
Squirt a little out and then use your dauber to dot it on your fabric. You can do it as dense or as sparse as you like it:
Let the front dry and then turn it over and do the back. Also, don’t forget the spine. I also let some of my dots hang off the edge a little.
Love how it turned out! Of course you don’t have to use gold paint-you can use any color you want. But let me warn you that making these books can be very addicting. They’re so cute and so handy and they make really great gifts!
