About a month or two ago I was working on this ornament at my kitchen table, while my little 8 year old son sat by me and worked on one of his own with the same supplies. I love sitting by kids and crafting and they love it too. It’s good quality time together and it makes us all happy (even if our house does get kind of messy.) Here’s what Jack came up with that he wants to share with you. This is a Kids Christmas ornament that your kiddos can work on while you work on the other one.
Kinda pretty right?! He had fun making it. And it’s easy to make for elementary age kids.
This is part of my Crazy Little Kids Projects series (which we haven’t done a lot of). Crafts FOR kids made BY kids. You can see more projects at that link.
Kid’s Craft: Beaded Christmas Ornament:
- Beads in Christmasy colors
- Jingle Bells
- Ribbon to add to the top
There’s not much to this. It’s simple. Cut a piece of wire about 1-2 feet long and then spiral it. Jack did it himself or could wrap it around a toilet paper roll or something to get it the shape. Then simply string beads and bells on in an pattern you like. That’s the beauty of it-you can just let the kids go to work!
At the top form a loop with the wire and string some ribbon on to hold it on the tree and you’re done!
Watch for more Crazy Little Kids Projects next year! It’s fun to let the kids craft right?
