I dug out my Halloween decorations earlier this week and was sort of sad when I looked at it. I don’t have all that much and most of it I don’t really like. Time for some new Halloween decorations! So, to get things started I made one of these cute little DIY Painted Halloween signs:
I actually saw a sign similar to this at the store the other day and thought it was cute but figured I could make it myself. So I did. And I like mine better because I could choose my own colors.
Halloween Painted Signs Tutorial:
- Wood to use for the sign. I got mine at the craft store for about $7
- Paint: I used Americana Multi Surface Paint in Orange Sherbet, Iris and Apple Green. I used the Patio Paint in Black and then I used Glamor Dust in neon orange, green and purple.
To start out I painted my sign the 3 colors in the spots that I needed them:
Then I cut my lettering out on my Silhouette cutting machine. You can cut your own like I did with a machine or do it with an exacto knife or buy a stencil at the store.
I laid the lettering on the board and adhered it as tight as I could. The painted over with black paint and waited for it to dry. Once it was dry I peeled my stencils off! I had to do just a little touch up here and there where the paint leaked through but it looks great.
Then I painted over each letter with the glamor dust to add the sparkle! I wish I could show you a picture of it but it won’t quite show up in pictures, so you’ll have to just trust me! It looks great!
